Online Catalog

Tips:

Searching an online catalog or database IS NOT the same as conducting an online search. Keep your search queries basic, using terminology related to your topic of choice. Make sure you spell your keywords correctly.
On the left side of the screen, you can check the boxes to narrow down your search by format - such as print book, e-book, DVD, article, etc.
Selecting the TITLE of the book will provide more information, including whether or not it is an e-book or a physical item carried by the library. If it is a physical item a Dewey Decimal number is provided, such as 700.415 N45

Dewey Decimal System

The library does not use Library of Congress classification but has opted to utilize the Dewey Decimal System for ease of access. At the end of each aisle, you will note a number range. Simply find the number range that corresponds with the Dewey call number you are seeking.

Everything is shelved by number, then letter. Each number stands for a unique topic. Every book is given a number and is put on the shelf in numerical order. Books with the same number are arranged alphabetically by the author's last name. Fiction is alphabetical by author's last name, biographies are kept in the 92 section, and some of our popular fiction is classed as PBK and is kept in the spinners to the right of the computers.
